Terms of use

The short version

• The app is free. Invoicing, estimates, clients, expenses, time, reports, recurring schedules and the jobs calendar cost nothing and need no account.
• Koi Pro is a subscription covering the two things that run on a server: backing your books and receipt photographs up to your account, and unlimited reading by the model.
• It renews by itself until you cancel it, and you cancel it in the App Store — not here, and not by emailing us.
• Your books are yours. We do not sell them, mine them, or train anything on them.
• The app helps you write an invoice. It is not an accountant, and the numbers on a document you send are your responsibility.

Using the app

You may use Invoice Koi to run your own business, on devices you control, for as long as you like. You may not resell it, pass it off as your own, or take it apart in order to do either.

You are responsible for what you send with it. An invoice produced by this app is a document you have written and chosen to send: the amounts, the tax treatment, the terms and the client's details are yours to check. The app does arithmetic on what you type; it does not know what you are allowed to charge or what your jurisdiction requires of an invoice.

Koi Pro

Koi Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. It is offered on two terms — weekly and yearly — and the price for each is shown on the subscription screen in the app before you buy, in your own currency and for your own storefront. That screen is the authority on price; any figure written elsewhere may be out of date.

What it includes:

• Your books and your receipt photographs carried to your account and back, so that losing or replacing the phone does not lose them.
• Unlimited use of the reading features — receipts, photographs, documents, spoken notes and Ask Koi — rather than the daily allowance a free account has.

Everything else in the app stays free, and will not be moved behind the subscription later. If that ever changes, it will change for new features and not by taking away one you already have.

Free trials

A free trial may be offered on either term. Where one is offered, its length is shown on the subscription screen before you buy and nothing is charged until it ends. Apple decides who is eligible: a trial is generally offered once per Apple ID per subscription group, so if you have had one before you will be charged from the first day. The app shows the trial only when Apple confirms you can still have it.

If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.

Renewal and cancellation

The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and your Apple ID is charged for the next one, until you cancel. To cancel, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your device, or the Manage link on the subscription screen in the app, and turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancelling stops future charges; it does not refund the period you are in.

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Refunds

Apple takes the payment, so Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue a refund for a purchase we did not process, though if something in the app went wrong we would like to hear about it either way — see Support.

If you stop paying

Your books stay on your phone. They are stored on the device, they are not held hostage, and every one of them can still be opened, edited, printed and sent. What stops is the server side: nothing new is carried up to your account, and the reading features return to the free daily allowance. What was already backed up stays in your account and can still be restored, and you can take a full portable copy out of the app at any time, on any plan, from Settings › Import and export.

Your account and your data

An account is optional and exists so the books survive the phone. What is kept, where, and for how long is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, at Settings › Account. That deletes the copy on the server; the books on your phone are untouched.

Things read by the model

When you ask Koi to read a photograph, a document or a spoken note, that content is sent to a third-party model provider to be read and the result comes back. It happens only when you press a button that says so. It is described in full in the privacy policy.

What comes back is a machine's reading and can be wrong. Check a total before you send it to a client.

Availability, and what we do not promise

The app is provided as it is. We do not promise it is free of defects, that the server side is never unavailable, or that it fits a particular purpose of yours. We especially do not promise that a reading by the model is accurate.

Nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of the app is limited to what you have paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim — which, for a free account, is nothing.

Keep your own copies of anything that matters. The app exports a complete portable backup, and taking one occasionally is the sensible habit with any software, this one included.

Ending it

You can stop using the app at any time, and delete your account from inside it. We may end your access if you use the app to break the law or to attack the service — and, if we ever discontinue the app, we will say so far enough ahead that you can take your books out.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes and the current version is always at this address. A change that materially affects a live subscription will be notified in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that is how you accept it; if you would rather not, cancel and export your books.

Who we are, and which law

Invoice Koi is published by Fang Ventures Private Limited, registered in Singapore. These terms are governed by Singapore law, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer elsewhere, nothing here takes away a right your own country's consumer law gives you.
