Invoice Koi

Hair stylist invoice template

Most of the week takes payment at the chair and needs no paperwork at all. The rest of it does: a bridal morning with five people in it, the salon you rent a chair from, a shoot that pays on invoice thirty days later, and a stockist who wants a document before they can pay for the products.

The lines hair stylists
actually bill.

Open the generator from this page and these are already in the document, with their units set. Put your own prices against them, add your logo, and save the PDF.

No rates against the lines, on purpose. What you charge is yours, and a suggested hourly rate published on a web page is a number somebody sends to a customer without meaning to. The figures beside it are one worked job, not a price list.

02The nine designs

Pick how it looks.

All nine are free in the app, on every document, with your logo and one of five accent colours. Each is named after a koi variety and drawn to answer to it, and the pictures are the real thing, printed by the renderer that draws the PDF your customer opens. Scroll through them.

  1. The Kohaku invoice template: Letterhead left, title and facts right.
A Kohaku koi: red on white.
    01 / 09

    Kohaku

    Red on white

On the page. The house design. Letterhead on the left, a serif title and the facts on the right, one wash of accent off the corner and a hairline closing the head. Two things on a white page, placed well.

  2. The Sumi invoice template: A hairline of accent along the very top of the sheet, title beneath.
A Sumi koi: the ink itself.
    02 / 09

    Sumi

    The ink itself

On the page. The most restrained of the nine. One hairline of accent along the very top of the sheet, no rules under the letterhead, a table with no lines in it at all and air where the ruling would have been.

  3. The Asagi invoice template: Title centred between two rules, letterhead and facts in a row below.
A Asagi koi: a blue net, laid straight.
    03 / 09

    Asagi

    A blue net, laid straight

On the page. The regular one. The title centred between two rules, the parties standing in two columns beneath it, and a table that holds its order without drawing a single line to do it.

  4. The Ogon invoice template: A full-bleed accent band carrying the title, letterhead beneath.
A Ogon koi: one metal, nose to tail.
    04 / 09

    Ogon

    One metal, nose to tail

On the page. The loudest. A full-bleed band of accent across the head carrying the title, alternate rows washed in the same colour, and the grand total reversed out of a block of it.

  5. The Tancho invoice template: Title and facts inside a ruled box, letterhead beside it.
A Tancho koi: one red circle, centred.
    05 / 09

    Tancho

    One red circle, centred

On the page. The formal one. The title and the document’s facts inside a ruled box with the letterhead beside it, and the largest title of the nine sitting in it. One block, deliberately placed.

  6. The Utsuri invoice template: Letterhead in a narrow left column, divided from the title by a rule.
A Utsuri koi: black answering a second colour.
    06 / 09

    Utsuri

    Black answering a second colour

On the page. The technical one. The letterhead in a narrow left column divided from the title by a rule, and a table ruled across and down, like a page out of an account book.

  7. The Shusui invoice template: Everything centred down the middle of the page.
A Shusui koi: one row of scales, down the spine.
    07 / 09

    Shusui

One row of scales, down the spine

On the page. The centred one. Letterhead, title and facts all down the middle of the page, closed by a pair of rules rather than one. A certificate rather than a bill.

  8. The Goshiki invoice template: The title reversed out of a tab in the top corner, letterhead beneath.
A Goshiki koi: five colours in one fish.
    08 / 09

    Goshiki

    Five colours in one fish

On the page. The layered one. The title reversed out of a tab in the top corner, the parties in two columns, and every figure at the foot gathered onto a panel of its own instead of the total alone.

  9. The Chagoi invoice template: The whole letterhead sitting on a panel washed in the accent.
A Chagoi koi: tea brown, and no pattern.
    09 / 09

    Chagoi

    Tea brown, and no pattern

On the page. The plain one. The whole letterhead sitting on a single panel washed in the accent, the table boxed beneath it, and no colour anywhere else on the sheet.

About this template.

What goes on a hair stylist's invoice?

The lines above: cut and finish, color, full head, bridal hair, per person, bridal trial, and the rest of what hair stylists bill for, each with the unit it bills in. Open the generator from this page and they are already in the document, waiting for your own prices.

Why are there no rates against the lines?

Because what you charge is yours. A suggested hourly rate published on a web page is a number somebody sends to a customer without meaning to, so the lines carry their names and the units they bill in, and leave the figures to you. The example job beside them is priced so you can see the document add up, not so you can copy the numbers.

Can I change the lines?

Yes. They are a starting point rather than a form. Add, rename and delete them, and in the app the price book keeps whatever you settle on so the next invoice starts from it.

What file do I get?

A PDF. The generator saves one through your browser's print dialogue, and the app draws one on the phone. There is no Word or Excel version.

Do I need to sign up?

No. The generator asks for nothing, and the app works before you make an account.
